President James
Madison reflected best the importance of our commitment to God's
standard when he noted that America's success was dependent upon the
determination of "each and every one of us to govern ourselves, to
control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten
Commandments of God."
The Ten Commandments is the most
commonly posted scripture in our society, being posted and written out in over 4,000
public places and in millions of churches and homes.
"And thou shalt
write them the posts of thy house, and on thy gates." Deuteronomy
6:9.
The most important reminder of this
day is to do the Ten Commandments. Read more at:

Church
is raising money to put Ten Commandments on City
Property

The Ten Commandments
Anderson, IN --
A church group is raising money to set up a Ten Commandments
monument on the front lawn of the city building, with the blessing
of the City Council.
The council voted unanimously to let
Lone Oak Wesleyan Church begin raising $12,000 for the granite
marker. Such displays often have been challenged in court on the
grounds that they amount to government endorsement of a religion.
The U.S. Supreme Court issued divided opinions on the issue last
year, essentially letting a monument that had stood for decades in
Texas remain in place while rejecting a new display on public
property in Kentucky, said Ken Falk, an attorney for the American
Civil Liberties Union of Indiana. "Any new display is problematic,"
he said. Church member Ken de la Bastide, Lapel, said the Ten
Commandments were the basis of modern law.

Judge
Roy Moore and the Ten Commandments of God
|
|
EVA, Alabama -
Former Chief Justice Roy Moore was greeted by a church full of
clapping supporters when he made a campaign stop at Journey Church
Thursday night.
Moore was visiting the church to
speak on the relation of God and country.
Quoting
founding father Samuel Adams, Moore said that the framers always
intended for God to be the sovereign truth in America.
"If you don't
recognize that your rights come from God, you recognize that they
come from the state," he said. "If they come from the state, they
can be taken away, but if they come from God, they are permanent and
self evident."
Prior to the
event, Moore commented on the Ten Commandments monument that cost
him his office in 2003 and his plans for them if he is elected
governor.
"I have said
that the Ten Commandments of God have a home at CrossPoint Community
Church, and I have no intention of moving them from that spot," he
said.
"I will however
say that I will continue to fight for the right of teachers, judges,
state, county and municipal offices to publicly acknowledge God as
the sovereign, moral foundation of law, liberty and government. No
matter what some federal judge says.

Ten Commandments of God are
blueprint for just society, Catholic Pope says
Vatican, Jan.
25 (CWNews.com) - At his regular weekly audience on Wednesday,
January 25, Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news) said that God's law
offers a blueprint for "peace and harmony in the world."
Speaking to
7,500 people in the Paul VI auditorium, the Holy Father called
attention to two events of the day: the publication of his first
encyclical, Deus Caritas Est, and the conclusion of the Week of
Prayer for Christian Unity. He offered a prayer that his encyclical
would impel Christians to greater acts of charity, and The Pope's
prepared address to the Wednesday audience was a meditation on Psalm
143 (144): "the king's prayer." This psalm, he observed, offers a
vision of a time "when the voice of evil will finally be silent,"
with the complete victory of God's people. The text depicts an ideal
society, marked by contented families, abundant crops, and "the
entire civil community finally enjoying the precious gift of peace
and of public order." This vision can be realized, the Pope said,
only through "the work of the Messiah and his people." And it can be
reached only by making a clear choice to "take the side of God, of
love and of justice." The psalmist says that he will play on a
10-stringed harp, and Pope Benedict-- following St. Augustine, whose
commentary he cited-- interpreted that image as a reference to the
10 Commandments. Psalm 143, the Catholic Pontiff concluded, calls
believers to "sing a new song with the 10-stringed harp, to sing
with the sentiments of Christ, to live the Ten Commandments of the Bible in the
dimension of love, and thus to contribute to a world of peace and
harmony."

|
|
The Dade County courthouse walls
could soon display the Ten Commandments of our God.
Elected
officials plan to take advantage of a bill passed by the Georgia
house allowing courthouses to display copies of the Ten Commandments
as historical documents. County Executive Ben Brandon expects
overwhelming support to display a Ten Commandments plaque in the
courthouse. Ben Brandon, Dade County Executive "And, I'll recommend
that, as I think it will be very well received in Dade County. I
can't imagine too many people objecting to that in Dade County. We
recognize where our authority comes from, which is from God. And, I
think you'll see it very well received in Dade County.

Ten
Commandments Bill, Passes House, Moves to
Georgia Senate ATLANTA
|

Ten Commandments Bill, Passes
House, Moves to Georgia Senate ATLANTA - House lawmakers
overwhelmingly approved a measure Wednesday that allows courthouses
to display copies of the Ten Commandments written out.
The proposal to
allow counties to display historical documents on public property
passed by a 140-26 vote. The bill's backers said the Ten
Commandments and other principles that guide the state's judicial
system deserve to be publicly displayed if a county wishes. "We feel
there's a real need to educate the public on the history and
background to American law," said state Rep. Tommy Benton,
R-Jefferson. "The best place to display the documents is the
courthouses and judicial buildings in counties." Opponents said the
bill would likely cost the state millions in legal fees to defend
challenges in court. In a split decision, the U.S. Supreme Court
last year declared two courthouse displays of the Ten Commandments
in Kentucky unconstitutional. Some also expressed concern with the
measure's language, which also specifically permits the Mayflower
Compact of 1620, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S.
Constitution to be displayed. "If we lump the Bible with the
Mayflower Compact and the Declaration of Independence, are we
demeaning the Bible?" said state Rep. Frank Millar, R-Dunwoody. "I
don't think the Bible belongs in that context." He added that he's
more concerned with bolstering the state's education system "than
where we hang the Ten Commandments." The proposal now moves to the
Senate.

Opposing View,
from Georgia:
Rep. Fran
Millar (R-Dunwoody) is a Georgia Republican lawmaker, associated
with liberal thinking. He questioned whether this bill should be a
priority for lawmakers. "I'm a lot more concerned about academic
achievement and the dropout rate, then where we hang the Ten
Commandments," Millar said.
